Is Rockdale Virtual Campus a school? 

Rockdale Virtual Campus is a full-time virtual secondary program serving students in grades 6 – 12 within Rockdale County Public Schools. While all courses are taught through RVC and delivered virtually, students remain primarily enrolled at their zoned school and will have a secondary line of enrollment with Rockdale Virtual Campus. Students can participate in athletics, after-school clubs, prom, cohort level events, and many other activities with their zoned school throughout the school year.

What type of diploma will my student receive?

Students will receive a general high school diploma from their zoned school and participate in their school’s graduation ceremony. Graduation requirements are the same as Rockdale County Public Schools.

How do I know if Rockdale Virtual Campus is a good option for my student?

Rockdale Virtual Campus is the only virtual option for grades 6-12 for Rockdale County Public School students. The program includes synchronous sessions, where students receive direct instruction from their teachers, and asynchronous sessions where students independently work on reviewing course content and completing assignments. RVC course offerings may be limited. Please contact your school counselor, as the local school can best answer questions and provide information specific to your child’s learning needs and schedule.

Are all Rockdale County Public School students able to attend Rockdale Virtual Campus?

Rockdale Virtual Campus is available to all eligible registered students in Rockdale County Public Schools in grades 6-12. Students must apply and meet eligibility criteria determined by attendance, STAR Math and STAR Reading scores, academic performance in core content classes, and students being on track to graduate on time based on their cohort year.

How do I apply to Rockdale Virtual Campus?

If a student is interested in enrollment, they must apply for consideration. There are two application windows during each school year. The first application window is during the Fall semester for students seeking to transfer to RVC for the Spring semester. The second application window is during the Spring semester for students seeking to transfer to RVC for the following school year. The application windows for the 2025-2026 school year are as follows:

There may be an additional application window at the beginning of the Fall semester if there are available spots.

How are grades and credits reported at the end of the course? 

Students will receive all instruction and grades from RVC. Progress grades are posted three times during each semester, every 4.5 weeks, and final grades are posted at the end of each 18-week semester. RVC final course grades are entered into Infinite Campus and are reported on the student’s local school transcript per RCPS protocols. 

What are the student participation expectations? 

Instruction will be provided in a blended synchronous and asynchronous setting. Students work independently and meet for synchronous sessions with RVC teachers.  Students must attend all synchronous sessions and are required to log in daily for Homeroom. Attendance and work completion are closely monitored.
 
How much time do I need to spend working on each course during the week?

Students who enroll in RVC full-time should plan to spend 6-8 hours per weekday working independently, attending synchronous sessions, and completing their course work.

What are the available courses at Rockdale Virtual Campus? 

All RVC courses follow the Rockdale County Public Schools curriculum and pacing guides. RVC will offer core classes, world languages, limited electives, and some advanced AP courses. Students must consult with their school counselor regarding course offerings.  It will be critical for students who are enrolled in a specialty program to work closely with their zoned school’s counselor prior to enrolling in RVC as it may not be possible for RVC students to participate in specialty programs.   

How long does student have to commit to Rockdale Virtual Campus?

Students must commit to one semester.

Are RVC courses approved by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA)? 

RVC classes are approved by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Student athletes should check with their counselor and the NCAA Clearing House for requirements.

 How does a student or parent communicate with the teacher?  

While the primary form of communication with students is email, all RVC teachers are available to talk to students or parents via email or telephone. Teacher contact information is located on the district RVC website. RVC instructional support options are located on the district RVC website. 

Are reasonable accommodations made for students who receive special education services?  

Prior to enrolling in RVC, a student’s individualized education program team (“IEP Team”) will determine if the student can receive a free appropriate public education (“FAPE”) while enrolled at RVC. If necessary, the student’s IEP Team will also consider if the student needs reasonable accommodations to access the program and services.  

Are reasonable accommodations made for students who receive Section 504 services? 

Prior to enrolling in RVC, a student’s Section 504 Team will determine if the student can receive a FAPE while enrolled at RVC. If necessary, the student’s Section 504 Team will also consider if the student needs reasonable accommodations to access the program and services. 

 Are reasonable accommodations made for students who receive English Language Proficiency services or are on an Individualized Health Care Plans? 

Prior to enrolling in RVC, students who receive English to Speakers of Other Languages ("ESOL") services and/or Individualized Health Care Plans (“IHCP Plans”) will meet with the appropriate committee that is responsible for administering their plans to determine if reasonable accommodations.
